MADRID.- The right side of the real Madrid, Dani Carvajalwill undergo surgery again to undergo arthroscopy on his right knee, the white club announced this Monday.
The Spanish international came off the bench and played almost half an hour – including injury time – in his team’s victory against FC Barcelona (2-1) on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
“Following the tests carried out on our captain Dani Carvajal by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with the presence of a loose joint body in his right knee,” the Madrid club said in a statement.
The player, who felt discomfort during the clash against Barça, will be out for between six and ten weeks, according to the Spanish press.
This is the same knee in which he suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligament, external collateral ligament and popliteus tendon on October 5 and which kept him out for nine months.
Carvajal returned to the pitch at the Club World Cup in the United States, but reappeared in the Clásico after having missed two LaLiga matches due to an injury suffered in his team’s defeat against Atlético (5-2) at the Metropolitano at the end of September.
With this loss, Xabi Alonso will only have the Englishman Trent Alexander-Arnold, recently recovered from an injury, as the only right back, although he maintains the option of the Uruguayan Federico Valverde.
After its victory against Barcelona, Real Madrid established itself as leader of LaLiga with 27 points, five more than Barça, second in the table.
Santos denies talks to renew Neymar
Santos, focused on avoiding relegation in Brazilian football, has not yet started negotiations to renew Neymar, although the “trend” is for him to stay beyond 2025, said club president Marcelo Teixeira.
Neymar, 33 years old and with a contract until December, is undergoing rehabilitation to return to the field in November.
Various injuries have limited him to playing only 13 of the 29 games played by Peixe in Brasileirão 2025, with three goals scored.
“Santos is focused on the competition (…). Every game is a final,” Teixeira told the press on Sunday, after a 2-2 away draw with Botafogo.
Contact with the footballer’s father and agent, Neymar Santos Sr, is “constant”, although “we have not yet talked about a renewal,” said the leader.
“We will evaluate it at the time,” said Teixeira, who clarified, however, that “the trend is for Neymar to stay.”
