The underwater drone could travel at a depth of one kilometer and at a speed of up to 70 knots, the Tass news agency quoted a representative from the Russian military-industrial complex as saying. It was tested for the first time in 2018 and can be equipped with a nuclear warhead.
On Sunday, the Kremlin chief announced the completion of tests with Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missiles. According to Putin, the cruise missiles have an “unlimited range.” US President Donald Trump described the tests as “not appropriate”. “He should end the war (in Ukraine),” he said. “He should do that instead of testing missiles.”
The US President recently canceled a planned meeting with Putin in Budapest. Last week, Washington imposed sanctions on Russia’s two largest oil companies, Lukoil and Rosneft. Trump justified the sanctions with a lack of progress in efforts to hold Ukraine peace talks with Russia.
