Liliana Morillo unleashes criticism when talking about migrants detained by ICE

Liliana Morillo’s recent statements ignited social networks by pointing out that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement of the United States (ICE) is detaining people who are wanted, so people who are on God’s side should not be afraid.

During an interview conducted by journalist Luis Enrique López for the Miami Break News portal and published on her Instagram account, the daughter of José Luis Rodríguez (El Puma) and Lila Morillo, expressed that each person must live their life without fear, trusting in their faith and divine protection, which many interpreted as a lack of empathy towards the difficult situation of Venezuelan and Latin American immigrants in the United States.

This position has been widely questioned, especially by those who point out that many Venezuelans live in constant fear of being detained and deported, and that the reality for them is much more complex. According to numerous comments on the networks, Morillo’s call to “not live in fear” ignores the circumstances of those who face double persecution: the one they left behind in Venezuela and the one they now fear in their new reality.

In this context, many users have asked for a more supportive and understanding approach, remembering that the message of empathy towards others is essential. Thus, the debate continues, with voices that ask for more understanding in the face of the suffering and uncertainty of so many Venezuelan families, who despite not having a criminal record, have been threatened by random arrests, after checking their vehicle license plate.
