MIAMI.- During a transmission of program The Fat and the SkinnyLili Estefan and Raúl de Molina They staged a live disagreement. The awkward moment arose when the presenters were discussing the beauty pageantsa topic on which in the past they have shown that they have opposite positions.
Estefan asserted that young women who have participated in competitions to use them as a springboard to make their way in the world of entertainment do not feel valued and respected.
“Our Univision and Telemundo network, Rauli, are both full of (queens). They feel a little, I don’t know, like they are not given the credit that these women deserve. They deserve it, it is a Rauli platform that helped them be there. Our Latin Beautywhich through so many years helped these women to be where they are today, and they learn a lot,” commented Estefan.
Given this, de Molina asserted that although beauty contests and reality shows help boost the careers of many women, she believes that currently these products do not have the same impact on society.
“I’m not saying no, it’s fine, perfect, whoever likes that should do it, but I think that at the time – and I also have the right to give my opinion – we are in 2026, many women are against these events.”
“I know that in the Latin market this is still one of the most important things there is. Many people are not going to like what I say, but many women with whom I speak tell me: ‘No, that for me is a lack of respect towards women’. And they tell you and you have to be sure that you have heard this in different places that say it,” she added.
Given this, Estefan pointed out: “No one has told me, but if you say it…”.
Tension in the program
Although the conversation may have ended at that point, it escalated. Raúl de Molina stated live that from production he was told to remain silent after Estefan’s words.
“Lili is not being yelled at, but Raúl de Molina is being yelled at for not speaking. And why don’t you yell at Lili and tell her? This is a two-sided standard: you yell at Raúl, but Lili can continue talking. It really seems disrespectful to me how they treat me here on the program, because they are yelling at me here to shut up and Lili is not told to shut up. This is, as the Americans say, a double standard,” he expressed.
However, Estefan pointed out that she was also being interrupted. “Raúl, who said they aren’t yelling at me? Of course they are yelling at me.”
Despite the intervention, de Molina continued his complaint. “They are just saying Raúl de Molina.”
The driver preferred to change the conversation without first expressing his dissatisfaction with the production attitude. “It doesn’t matter that they treat me like this, show It was made for me many years ago and now they are telling me: ‘No, you can’t give your opinion, you can’t say this about the show‘”.
