Miami.- Representative Nancy Mace, Republican of South Carolina, left the governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds without arguments, during an audience on the Financing of the USAID, in the Supervision Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, February 5 .
The audience, entitled “Rightsizing Government”addressed government efficiency and included as witnesses the governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, the president of Citizens Against Government Waste (citizens against government waste), Thomas A. Schatz, and William G. Resh, Ph.D (Witness of minorities), Associate Professor of Policies and Public Management at the School of Public Policies Sol Price of the University of Southern California.
“Today I am going to present some of the initiatives that Useoid has funded over the years and I will ask each of you a question of itself or not if you believe that these dollar expenses of the US taxpayers first put America first. Then , it will be yes or no “the representative Nancy Mace raised at the beginning.
And questioned: “USAID granted $ 2 million to strengthen trans organizations to provide affirmative gender attention in Guatemala. Does US citizens benefit from trans citizens paying for trans people in Guatemala worth $ 2 million? Yes or no?”
“I have no position”replied Governor Reynolds.
“USAID granted more than $ 750,000 to relieve loneliness among migrant workers in the textile sector in India. Does this advance the interests of America?”Mace inquired.
“No”said Reynolds.
“USAID granted $ 1.5 million to provide a sensitive response to migration on the Venezuelan border. Does this advance the interests of America?”Mace settled.
“No”Reynolds admitted.
“USAID granted $ 4.3 million on October 1, 2023, to a group to finance comprehensive health services for men who have sex with other men in South Africa. Does this advance the interests of US citizens?”Mace said.
“No”Reynolds found.
“USAID granted $ 1.5 million to promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplaces and business communities of Serbia, promoting economic empowerment and opportunities for people LGBTQI+. Does this advance the interests of America?”
“No”Reynolds replied.
Finally, Mace said that USAID had awarded more than $ 70,000 to a group to perform a live musical event to promote shared values of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility between the United States and Ireland. “Does this advance the interests of America?”asked.
“No”Said the governor.
Fund waste in USAID
It should be noted that the use of funds by USAID is not being reviewed as part of the new Trump administration, but the issue has been analyzed long earlier for bad financial management and corruption, as reported by Fox News Digital.
In 2015, when Donald Trump aspired to the presidency, he said: “It is necessary that we invest in our infrastructure, let’s stop sending foreign help to countries that hate us and use that money to rebuild our tunnels, roads, bridges and schools.”
In more recent dates, the matter gained more seriousness with new reports: the Office of Government Responsibility (GAO) published a Report in 2023 in which he determined that both USAID and the National Health Institutes directed funds from taxpayers to American universities and a non -profit organization before money reached Chinese groups, including the Wuhan Virology Institute.
The report, as detailed by a Fox News report, revealed that, between 2014 and 2021, funds from US taxpayers were redirected to entities such as the Wuhan Virology Institute, the University of Wuhan and the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, which forms Part of the Chinese Communist Party. According to the GAO report, these three groups together received more than 2 million dollars from the US government “through seven subcontracts.”
