Netanyahu announces joint gaza strategy with the USA – Hamas leaves three hostages

Israel and the United States have put pressure on a long -term solution in the Gaza Strip. After a meeting with the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Israel’s head of government Benjamin Netanyahu announced a “common strategy” of both countries for the Gaza Strip on Sunday in Jerusalem with a view to the evacuation plans of US President Donald Trump. On Saturday, three more Hamas Geiseln were released after almost 500 days of captivity.

“We have discussed Trump’s courageous vision for the future of the Gaza Strip and will work to make this vision reality,” said Netanyahu. US President Trump is of the opinion that instead of “the same trange ideas of the past”, something new is necessary.

Trump wants to completely clear the Gaza Strip destroyed by the war and, according to his own statements, convert it into a “Riviera of the Middle East”. The 2.4 million Palestinians living there are to be relocated to Jordan and Egypt. The violation met in the Arab world, but also in western allies in the United States, such as Germany.

After his conversation with Netanyahu, Rubio called for the destruction of the radical Islamic Hamas. “Hamas cannot continue as a military or government,” said the US foreign minister on his first Middle East trip. The Palestinian organization had to be “eliminated”.

For his part, Netanyahu warned that the “gates of hell” would open up in the Gaza Strip if not all hostages should be released. He repeated Trump’s words that threatened that the “hell” would break off if Hamas did not release the hostages.

Hamas had released three more Israeli hostages with Sascha Trupanow the day before with Sascha Trupanow, Sagui Dekel-Schen and Jair Horn. The release was staged again by Hamas: Dozens of armed and hooded fighters had positioned themselves on Saturday morning on a stage in Chan Junis with Palestinian flags and a large propaganda powder.

Trupanow, decel and horn were led onto the stage, where they had to speak an explanation in a microphone. In their hands they held bags with “souvenirs” and their release “documents”.

They were brought to vehicles from the Red Cross (IKRK) to vehicles from the International Committee. They were still handed over to the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip and brought back across the border to Israel. As a result, 70 of the 251 of Hamas on October 7, 2023 are still recorded in the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli information, 35 of them are already dead.

Rubio said the fact that Hamas continues to hold hostages and even the dead, shows their sick deprivation “.

The release of the three hostages on Saturday had been on the brink for days: Hamas had threatened to stop the hostage of hostages on Monday and referred to alleged violations of Israel against the current ceasefire. Israel then threatened to resume the war in the Gaza Strip, provided that there are no three other living hostages on the weekend. Hamas then steered on Friday.

In return, Israel left 369 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons on Saturday.

During his visit to Israel, Rubio branded the Islamic Republic of Iran, which supports Hamas and other groups fighting against Israel in the region, as the “largest source of instability” in the Middle East. The country should therefore never become an nuclear power. Netanyahu said that the USA and Israel had to fight with a “common front” against the threat of Iran.

The Hamas and allied groups had triggered the war in the Gaza Strip with their brutal major attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. On January 19, a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel came into force, in the first phase of which 33 Israeli hostages are released and, in return, hundreds of Palestinians are to be released from Israeli detention.

On Monday, the Israeli security cabinet advises on the second phase, as Netanyahu’s office announced. Netanyahu also instructed his negotiators to travel to Cairo on Monday to discuss the further implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire.

In the second ceasefire phase, Hamas and allied groups with it are supposed to hand over all remaining hostages to Israel. In addition, a final end to the Gaza War is to be achieved. The third phase should be about the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

Regardless of the ceasefire, Israel flew an air raid on the Gaza Strip on Sunday. The Israeli army said that he had “several armed persons”. The Hamas said that three police officers were killed in the attack. She described the incident as a “serious violation” against the ceasefire.
