White house: Israel has approved US custody plan

According to the White House, Israel has approved a new US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. President Donald Trump’s spokeswoman, Karoline Leavitt, said on Thursday that Israel “approved and supported” the plan. The conversations with the radical Islamic Hamas, on the other hand, continued. The Hamas confirmed that she tested the US proposal, but was rather skeptical.

Leavitt did not say exactly what the new plan provides. According to her, Trump and his special representative Steve Witkoff forwarded the proposal after the green light from Israel to Hamas. There was no information from Israel for the time being.

A high-ranking Hamas representative said on Thursday that the plan was lying behind the Palestinians’ demands. The Hamas continues to check the proposal, said Bassem Naim from Politburo of the Radical Islamic Organization. The answer from Israel means “the continuation of killing and hunger”.

Recently there had been no progress in the conversations about a ceasefire in the Gaza War. Israel had reinforced his attacks from March after a short break of fire and also blocked aid deliveries into the area for weeks. The humanitarian location in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic, international aid organizations and the UN warn of famine.

At the same time, Israeli hostages are still captured by Hamas and its Islamist allies in the Gaza Strip. Of the 251 delayed hostages, 57 are still suspected in the Gaza Strip, 34 of them are already dead according to the Israeli army. The Gaza war was triggered by the major attack of Islamist Hamas on October 7, 2023.
