What is the best soccer league in the world?

There has always been the belief that the soccer European is the top, in terms of leagues with clubs. However, this 2023 the reality is different.

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics surprised with the latest list of the best leagues in the world, as it leads a South American one.

The scoring system managed by the IFFHS mainly considers what has been achieved by football clubs at the international level, that is, the impact they have on the definition of the different championships between teams from different countries.

For this occasion, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics pointed out that the best league on the planet is the Brasileirao from Brazilfollowed by the English Premier League and Italy’s Serie A.

The reason Brazil has the best league in the world is because two clubs from that competition reached the most important finals in South America. Fluminense was crowned champion of the 2023 Copa Libertadores against Boca Juniors, while Fortaleza fell on penalties in the 2023 Copa Sudamericana against Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (LDQU).

Manchester City, for its part, was the reigning champion of the Champions League, but that does not make Europe, at least for this year, better than South America.

The list is as follows: Brasileirao of Brazil, Premier League of England, Serie A of Italy, La Liga of Spain, Bundesliga of Germany, Ligue 1 of France, Primeira Liga of Portugal, Eredevisie of Holland, Professional League of Argentina and First Division of Paraguay.

The Premier League continues to be the most watched league in the world and surprisingly, the Bundesliga lowered its level from previous years, after being surpassed by Italy and Spain.

We just have to wait, when the IFFHS publishes a new list of the best clubs in the world, because until June 2023, Real Madrid led the list above City and Flamengo from Brazil.

In the top 200 of the best clubs in the world, at that time from the period June 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023, 59 countries were represented, with Brazil being the largest among those cataloged with 15. Argentina followed with 13, England with 11, France 10, Spain 9, Germany 8 and Italy with 8.

Other possibilities that can be expected for this new list are that Inter Miami of the MLS or Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia may appear, after the last months of Lionel Messi and Crisitano Ronaldo, respectively in each team. So far, with the aforementioned ranking until June 2023, only Los Angeles FC (165) is the only representation of the United States among the best 200 teams in the world.
