US election Joe Biden apparently thinks he could have beaten Trump

During his time as US President, Joe Biden made many decisions. He’s apparently unhappy with some of them today – including leaving the election campaign.

In a few weeks, outgoing US President Joe Biden will hand over the keys to the White House to Donald Trump. To the outside world, Biden appears to be a good loser and did not hesitate to congratulate his successor after his election victory. Unlike what was the case in 2021, a peaceful change of office can be expected.

According to a report in the Washington Post, Biden regrets withdrawing from the presidential race. “Biden and some of his advisers still believe he should have stayed in the race,” the newspaper said. According to insiders, he and his advisors are said to be firmly convinced that Trump could have been beaten. Biden is said to have not commented on the campaign and defeat of his Vice President Kamala Harris.

Didn’t Joe Biden withdraw voluntarily?

Joe Biden withdrew in July after he was unable to convince in a TV debate against Donald Trump a month earlier and thus strengthened Trump’s back. His party then exerted massive pressure as the poll numbers fell rapidly. Harris then led the Democrats out of their slump, but ultimately failed in her candidacy. Biden and his confidants are now apparently asking themselves whether the change at the top was a mistake. You will never find out.

But withdrawing from the race should not be the only decision that the current president regrets. Another mistake was the decision to appoint Merrick Garland as Attorney General. He said that the proceedings against Donald Trump were progressing too slowly and thus prevented a reputation-damaging trial before the elections.

It was also “stupid” that he did not send the pandemic aid checks that his government sent out in 2021 under his name. Donald Trump insisted a year earlier that his name should appear there. As a result, Biden said, Trump received a lot of recognition. Biden admitted this mistake during a speech about his economic legacy.

Little recognition for positive developments

But Biden is not just looking for the reasons for the end of his presidency in himself. In his opinion, he received too little media recognition for the country’s economic success during his time in government. According to him and his advisers, this, combined with his own failures, meant that the country’s progress, especially after the end of the pandemic, was not remembered by Americans.

His competitor, predecessor and successor Donald Trump will take the helm again on January 20, 2025. Only then will Joe Biden’s term in office officially end. The current incumbent president will then be 82 years old.
