US President Donald Trump will receive Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky for talks at the White House on Friday. According to the Ukrainian government, the most important topic of the meeting is the possible delivery of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.



The missiles have a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and would enable Ukraine to carry out attacks deep into Russian territory. The relationship between Trump and Zelensky had noticeably improved in recent months after a difficult start.

Trump threatens Putin, Kremlin threatens Trump

In advance, on Thursday, Trump wanted to telephone Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I’m talking to you right now President Putin“, wrote the Republican on his platform Truth Social. It is a long conversation that is ongoing. Trump announced that both he and Putin would report on its contents once it was completed. He did not provide any further information about the content or planned length of the telephone call.

Last weekend, Trump said he could threaten Putin with supplying tomahawks to Kiev if Russia did not stop its attacks on Ukraine. The Kremlin strongly warned the US government against such a delivery. Russia’s ex-president and Security Council deputy head Dmitry Medvedev even hinted at a possible counter-reaction with nuclear weapons.
