Trump withdraws federal funds and qualifies the train project in California as a great scam

President Donald J. Trump announced on Wednesday the elimination of billions of dollars in federal funds planned to build a high -speed train between Los Angeles and San Francisco, a project that began more than 15 years ago.

“Not a single cent the federal government will go to this great scam,” Trump announced in his social social network.

He added that it is “a poorly conceived and unnecessary project, and a total waste of taxpayers’ money. But it ended!”

Since 2008, the project of a high -speed train that connects Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2 hours and 40 minutes faced multiple delays and cost overruns, to the point that the first rails began to put in 2025 (since 2008 that the project was approved) and it is supposed to USA

Trump canceled the funds for that alleged work in his first term (2017-2021), but former president Joe Biden restored the funds after arriving at the White House.

The great scam

The budget began at $ 15,000 million, then at $ 33,000 million and was already for more than $ 130,000 million

Trump, however, threatened last month to cancel 4,000 million dollars of financing for the project, after knowing a report by the Federal Railway Authority (FR) that concluded that there was no “viable path” to complete the initial section of the line before the deadline of 2033.

“Today we cancel the federal financing for this train that does not go anywhere,” confirmed on Wednesday the Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy.

“The costs have fired from 33,000 million dollars to $ 135 billion, without a date of completion in sight,” he denounced.

California Democratic governor Gavin Newsom warned that “California is considering all the options available” to combat what he called an “illegal action” of the Republican President.

Unlike Europe or Asia, the train is the Cinderella of transport in the United States. The infrastructure is practically non -existent, and the few lines in service are usually slow and rare.

The first high -speed railway line in the country, between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, is scheduled to surrender in 2028, for the celebration of the Olympic Games.
