Trump: Ukraine could recapture the entire territory of Russia – Selenskyj: "Big U -turn"

According to US President Donald Trump, Ukraine could recapture the entire area occupied by Russia. “I think that Ukraine is able to fight with the support of the European Union and to regain the entire Ukraine in its original form,” Trump explained on Tuesday in his online platform Truth Social. The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj welcomed Trump’s statements as a “big U -turn”.

Trump described Russia as a “paper tiger” that was economically in need. He added that Ukraine could not only recapture its occupied country, but “who knows, maybe even go further”. After his meeting with Selenskyj, Trump commented on the edge of the UN General Assembly in New York.

At the start of the conversation, Trump had said that he had “great respect for the struggle of Ukraine. That is really impressive.” The positive statement about the attitude of Ukraine was in great contrast to the meeting of Trump and Selenskyj in February in the White House when the Ukrainian President of Trump and his Vice JD Vance were humiliated in front of the camera.

Selenskyj himself also spoke of a “big U -turn” at a press conference. He also thanked Trump on Tuesday for his “personal efforts to end the war”, and agreed with the US President in the demand that the European countries should immediately end the import of Russian oil.

“You must immediately hire all energy purchases from Russia,” Trump previously said in his speech before the UN General Assembly in New York. “Otherwise we all waste a lot of time.” NATO allies would not have adequately reduced their consumption of Russian energy, “criticized the US President.

The 27 EU countries had banned most imports of Russian oil in 2022 after the Russian invasion in Ukraine. However, exceptions apply to Slovakia and Hungary, which continue to move into oil from Russia via the Druschba pipeline.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also met Trump in New York on Tuesday. She agreed with the US President that Russia would have to be “cut” fossil fuels from selling fossil fuels. She referred to the suggestions recently made by her commission that aimed at an early end of all European imports from fossil fuels from Russia.

Meanwhile, France’s President Emmanuel Macron also welcomed the most recent Trump explanations. “I am pleased that the American President believes in Ukraine’s ability not only to hold out, but also to assert her rights, said Macron.
