Trump is scheduled to testify in the fraud trial in New York

Former US President Donald Trump is scheduled to testify on Monday in the fraud trial against him in New York. The 77-year-old Republican is accused of having inflated the assets of his real estate empire over the years in order to get better conditions for loans and insurance. Trump, who wants to run again in the presidential election in a year, rejects the allegations and describes the process as politically motivated.

Trump’s eldest sons Donald Trump Junior and Eric Trump have already testified in the civil trial. The two are part of the management of the Trump Organization, which owns numerous properties, hotels and golf courses. New York State Attorney General Letitia James has called for, among other things, a fine of $250 million (236 million euros) against Trump and his sons.
