The Trump government has ahead of the National Museums for American history as well as for African-American history and culture as well as the National Museum of the American Indian. The Trump government will make a “comprehensive internal review”, the letter said.
With a view to the 250th anniversary of the U.S. independence declaration in the coming year, it will be assessed whether “the tone, the historical framework and the sound with American ideals” are guaranteed. This applies to exhibitions, school materials and digital content. The museums were instructed to present exhibition plans, information on scholarships and internal guidelines within 30 days.
In a statement, the Smithsonian Institution said that it was prescribed “scientific excellence, rigorous research and the exact, fact -based representation of history”. In this sense, she checked the letter and will work constructively with the White House.
Trump has been hard against cultural institutions as well as universities and their supposedly left ideology since the beginning of his second term in January. Already in March he had signed a decree to make the 20 national museums from Smithsonian again the “symbol of inspiration and American size” and “remove inappropriate ideologies”.
The National Museum of American history had removed a hint of the two official debt proceedings against Trump in July. However, the Smithsonian Institution contested that this was done at the White House. The sign did not meet the internal presentation standards and will be revised “in the coming weeks”.
Last year, according to Smithsonian, almost 17 million people visited the various facilities in Washington. Entry is basically free.
