Mr. James, what is it like to protect the most important person in the world?
Nothing I’ve done before or since comes anywhere close. But the pressure was enormous. I’ve seen how the job has broken colleagues. Many have given up after one or two years.
How long were you in the Secret Service?
22 years, from 1996 to 2018.
