The legendary quarterback Tom Brady was once again at the center of the conversation NFL after revealing that he seriously considered coming out of retirement, although the league itself stopped any possibility.
The NFL closed the door
In an interview with CNBC Sports, Brady confessed that he explored the idea, but that the NFL did not welcome his return. The main obstacle is clear:
He is currently a minority shareholder of the Las Vegas Raiders
Owns about 5% of the team (acquired in 2024)
A league rule prohibits active players from having participation in franchises
This would generate conflicts, especially with the salary cap.
A different role in the Raiders
Brady explained that his role in the franchise is more strategic than operational:
Does not have defined daily functions
Acts as an advisor within the organization
He is part of the new project after a bad season (3-14 in 2025)
The Raiders also have the number 1 pick in the 2026 Draft, which could mark a turning point for the team.
Why did the rumor return?
The stir arose after his participation in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, where, at 48 years old, he showed:
Precision in passing
Good game reading
Flashes of the dominant Brady as always
Even so, Brady himself was forceful:
“That game only confirmed to me that I am very happy retired.”
An intact legacy
Although the idea excited many fans, the truth is that Brady seems to be clear about his present:
7-time Super Bowl champion
3-time NFL MVP
15 Pro Bowl selections
Returning would have been an incredible story… but also risky for his legacy.
