Santiago Bernabéu will become a tennis court during the Madrid Open

MADRID.- The stadium Santiago Bernabéuthe house of real Madridwill house a clay tennis court for training during the Madrid Openin April, the tournament organizers reported this Friday.

The court will be available for players of the ATP and players of the WTA between April 23 and 30, a period in which Real Madrid does not have scheduled home games.

“Bringing a clay court to one of the most iconic venues in the world creates a unique meeting point between the tradition of tennis and the universal appeal of a constantly evolving scene,” the Madrid Open said in a statement.

For the first time, the Spanish capital hosted a match of the NFL at the Bernabéu in November 2025, within the framework of the plan to use its remodeled stadium in a multipurpose way – which reopened after the works in 2023 – and increase income.

Los Blancos were also planning to host regular high-profile concerts at the Bernabeu but were forced to halt them over noise complaints after a neighborhood association took the stadium owners to court.

The Madrid Open begins on April 20 and runs until May 3 at the Caja Mágica, south of the city.

Ancelotti summons Reis
