WASHINGTON — The White House platform, TRUMP TV, began its broadcast this Monday, its live broadcast channel a few days after vetoing media such as CNN, MSNOW and Politico, which it accuses of lying and maintaining a campaign against President Donald Trump.
The new channel began its broadcasts with an old speech by US President Donald Trump, while the main US television networks have suspended joint coverage of his events in protest of the veto imposed on the three media outlets that the president accuses of offering unfavorable coverage of his Administration.
The signal began broadcasting at 7:00 p.m. local time (23:00 GMT) and opened its programming with the speech that Trump gave on July 3 at Mount Rushmore, during the events for the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States.
In that speech, the president stated that “America will never be a communist country” and asked his followers to defend what he defined as the American identity and character.
The choice of an intervention almost three months ago turned the launch of the platform as a direct alternative to traditional media coveragemore than in the transmission of a new presidential act.
According to the White House, streaming will be available 24 hours a day and will air announcements and highlights from the Trump administration.
“Trump TV is streaming 24/7, updated in real time, with past highlights, announcements and the latest and greatest from the administration, all in one place.
Media lawsuit against Trump
The premiere occurred on the same day that ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC – the other members of the White House pool – suspended their participation, after the institution prevented CNN, whose turn it was, from carrying out its coverage.
The decision came after the White House banned access from CNN, MSNOW and Politico, after those three media outlets filed a lawsuit against Trump and senior officials in his Administration on the grounds that the veto violates their constitutional rights.
The dispute occurs while the president is in New York to participate in the high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly, where he plans to speak this Tuesday.
