Nairo Quintana will compete in the Vuelta a Spain 2026 and the World de Ruta before ending his professional career, as confirmed by a source close to the Colombian cyclist. The 36-year-old rider announced in March that this will be his last season in the peloton.
The leader of the Movistar Team will participate in the Vuelta a España, which will begin on August 22, and will later compete in the Road World Championships, scheduled between September 20 and 27 in Montreal, Canada.
The goodbye of a Colombian cycling legend
Considered one of the best Latin American cyclists in history, Quintana starred in one of the most successful generations of international cycling alongside figures such as Chris Froome, Alberto Contador and Vincenzo Nibali.
During his career he won the Giro d’Italia in 2014 and the Vuelta a España in 2016, establishing himself as one of the great leaders of Colombian cycling.
His great goal was always the Tour de France, a competition in which he came close to glory with two runners-up finishes, in 2013 and 2015, as well as a third place in 2016.
With the Vuelta a España and the Road World Championships as the last competitions of his career, Quintana will put an end to a journey that made him one of the most important athletes in the history of Colombian cycling.
