The US carries out a new attack against a drug vessel in the Pacific

WASHINGTON— The United States Army reported this Tuesday that it carried out a new operation in the ocean Peaceful eastern in which four alleged drug traffickers who were traveling in a boat were killed within the framework of security actions aimed at combating illicit networks in the region.

As detailed by the United States Central Command (Centcom) through its official channels, this is the fourth recent operation against vessels suspected of being linked to drug trafficking in that strategic area.

Recent operations in the region

According to the information released, these actions are part of a series of interventions that have intensified in recent days. On Monday, two people died in similar circumstances, while on Saturday the neutralization of five occupants of boats allegedly used to transport illicit substances was reported.

US authorities maintain that these operations respond to maritime interdiction efforts aimed at stopping the flow of drugs into North American territory.

Strategy against drug trafficking

President Donald Trump’s administration maintains a policy of pressure against criminal organizations operating in Latin America, which it has described as “narcoterrorists.”

In this context, military operations in international waters seek to weaken the logistical capabilities of these networks and reduce their mobilization capacity.

Until now, US authorities have defended these operations as part of their security strategy, focused on the fight against drug trafficking and transnational threats.

The actions in the eastern Pacific reflect increased US pressure on sea routes used for illicit activities, in a context of efforts to strengthen control and security in the region.
