The Epstein case, parties and prostitution that still resonate

MIAMI.- After long months of waiting, the judicial file on the Jeffrey case Epsteinthe tycoon sentenced to only 18 months in prison for procuring the prostitution of a minor under 18 years of age, was finally published by order of a federal judge, which includes some 200 names of related people, many prominent, who surprise opinion public.

New York federal judge Loretta Preska made public the list of names that once had a relationship with Epstein, who, during the trial, clarified that being mentioned in the documents “does not imply any type of guilt” with drug trafficking matters. minors and sexual abuse of someone who committed suicide in prison three years ago.

Documents

The documents come to light after Virginia Giuffre, an alleged victim of trafficking when she was 17, against Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Giuffre is the same woman who reached a million-dollar agreement with British Prince Andrew, Epstein’s alleged client and whom she accused of having had relations with her as a minor.

Among the declassified documents are statements from Johanna Sjoberg, another of Epstein’s victims, who even commented that former US President Bill Clinton “liked young people, meaning girls.”

Former presidents

Former presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump are known to have had connections to Epstein, although neither has been linked to the criminal acts.

A Clinton spokesperson declared in 2019 that the former president had flown on Epstein’s private plane, but that the former president knew nothing of the financier’s “terrible crimes.”

Trump has told reporters that he banned Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago property, but has not publicly explained why their friendship ended.

Others

On the other hand, Sjoberg testified that he met the late pop star Michael Jackson at the magnate’s Palm Beach home, but without any accusations towards the singer.

The same Epstein victim described attending a dinner at another of Epstein’s homes that included magician David Copperfield.

Another surprising name that appears in the new documents, although this does not mean criminal complicity, is that of astrophysicist Stephen Hawking.

Epstein reportedly asked Maxwell in an email on January 12, 2015, to find a relative of Giuffre to deny her accusations.

“I can issue a reward to any of Virginia’s friends, acquaintances and family who come forward and help prove that her accusations are false (…) The strongest is the Clinton dinner and the new version in the Virgin Islands of that Stephen Hawking participated in an underage orgy,” he said in the email.

In addition to Prince Andrew, Giuffre also identified as “friends” former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, the late fashion and modeling director Jean-Luc Brunel, billionaire Glenn Dubin and then-New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson.

On the other hand, the identity of those who were minors or have not made public statements remains hidden.

Death

According to authorities, on July 23, 2019, Epstein was found semi-conscious on the floor of his cell, with marks around his neck resulting from suicide.

A few days after the death, Richard M. Berman dismissed all sex trafficking charges.

However, he also expressed support for Epstein’s accusers. Prosecutors opposed the ruling and declared they would continue an investigation into possible co-conspirators.
