Spain national team calls up Cubarsí and Porro again

MADRID.- Spanish teenager Pau Cubarsí and Tottenham full-back Pedro Porro are back with the Spanish team for the Nations League matches against Denmark and Serbia.

Coach Luis de La Fuente included Cubarsí in the expanded initial squad for the European Championship, which he won Spainbefore leaving out the center back in his final selection. The player, just 17 years old, ended up helping the team win Olympic gold in August.

Porro, meanwhile, received his third captaincy for Spain in March in a friendly against Colombia and is now back after an impressive start to the campaign with Spurs.

Martín Zubimendi will surely start in place of the injured Rodri as a holding midfielder. The Real Sociedad player stood out in that role as a substitute for Manchester City’s stronghold in the Euro Cup.

Coach de la Fuente announced his team on Friday for the matches against Denmark, at home on October 12, and away against Serbia three days later.

Denmark leads the group with six points, followed by Spain with four. Serbia and Switzerland have zero units.
