Donald Trump: The White Stripes are suing the ex-president

Abba, Céline Dion, Adele: They all don’t want Donald Trump to use their music during campaign appearances. Jack White recently threatened to sue – and is now getting serious.

Because he apparently used their super hit “Seven Nation Army” without permission, the US rock band The White Stripes is now taking legal action against the Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump. Singer Jack White (49) published a picture of the lawsuit on Instagram. Accordingly, the lawsuit in New York is also directed against Trump’s spokeswoman Margo Martin.

The singer is taking seriously what he threatened to do on Instagram at the end of August. He also shared a video of Martin on the network, which she had shared on the X platform. In the now-deleted clip, Donald Trump can be seen boarding a plane. White wrote: “Don’t even think about using my music.” He also announced a lawsuit there. White accompanied the post with the famous guitar riff from the band’s hit.

Celine Dion doesn’t want Donald Trump to use her music in the election campaign

Trump repeatedly sparks outrage by using well-known pop hits. In August, singer Céline Dion (56) announced that she did not want her music to be used by the former US president for his election campaign. The playing of the song “My heart will go on” at a rally in the US state of Montana was in no way authorized, she explained on X. “Really, this song?”

The singers Taylor Swift and Rihanna also objected to its use, as did the record company of the late singer Sinead O’Connor. In a statement in March, they said they were outraged that the US Republican presidential candidate was playing their song “Nothing Compares 2 U” on the campaign trail. O’Connor lived by a strict moral code characterized by “honesty, kindness, fairness and decency towards her fellow human beings” and described Trump as the “biblical devil”. Accordingly, Trump’s campaign team should immediately stop using the music.

There was no statement from Trump. Artists and their representatives such as Tom Petty, Adele and REM have also issued similar calls.
