With a goal from Mikel Oyarzabal in the 87th minute, Spain won its fourth Euro Cup title by beating England 2-1 on Sunday, whose quest for a major title is not over.
Oyarzabal slid in to tap in Marc Cucurella’s cross just as the final at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium looked set to go into extra time following another agonising England comeback in the tournament.
Substitute Cole Palmer equalised for the Three Lions in the 73rd minute after Nico Williams had opened the scoring in the 47th following a pass from teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal.
Spain is the most successful team at the European Championship. It also won in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
