On Wednesday afternoon, the President of the United States will stand in the magnificent East Room of the White House to posthumously honor two American soldiers with the Medal of Honor, the country’s highest military award. In 1862, in the midst of the bloody Civil War, the men were involved in a mission to sabotage the railroad system in Confederate territories using a stolen train. They died during the operation, the famous “Andrews Raid.”
