Rudy Giuliani has to sign over luxury penthouse and jewelry

His campaign against Donald Trump’s election defeat was his downfall: Rudy Giuliani has to sign over his most valuable possession to two election workers.

As a result of the conviction for defamation of two election workers, ex-US President Donald Trump’s former private lawyer Rudy Giuliani has to hand over valuables and his luxury apartment in the New York borough of Manhattan to the two women. Giuliani, who filed for bankruptcy at the end of 2023, will be ordered to transfer “all property listed below (…), including cash accounts, jewelry and valuables,” the legal right to previously unpaid legal fees and his apartment, a judge ordered on Tuesday, according to court documents.

Also on the list of assets to be returned to the two women are a 1980 Mercedes-Benz SL 500, a jersey signed by Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio, a diamond ring, costume jewelry and 26 watches. These include a Rolex, five Shinolas, two Bulovas and a Tiffany & Co. – one watch is said to have been a gift from the Egyptian president that Giuliani received after the September 11th attacks.

Giuliani’s lawyers, Kenneth Caruso and David Labkowski, said in a statement Tuesday evening: “Wait and see. If the ruling is overturned by the appeals court in Washington, D.C., the plaintiffs will be required to return all of this property to Mr. Giuliani. “

Rudy Giuliani needs to transfer his property

Giuliani was ordered in December 2023 to pay $148 million (136 million euros) to Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea Moss. The former mayor of New York falsely accused the two women of election fraud and made other unfounded claims about them. Following the verdict, Giuliani filed for bankruptcy in a New York court in December.

After Trump’s election defeat, Giuliani was a central figure in the elected incumbent’s attempts to overturn the election outcome using baseless allegations of fraud and thus stay in office.

In earlier times, Giuliani was highly regarded across party lines. Because of his level-headed reaction to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York, the then city leader was ennobled as “America’s Mayor” by talk queen Oprah Winfrey. Giuliani later became Trump’s loyal and often aggressive companion – he has been an irritant for Trump’s opponents ever since.
