President of Mexico reviews the preparations of the 2026 World Cup with Infantino

MEXICO.- The Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaumhe received the head of the FIFA, Gianni Infantinoto review the preparations for Football World Cup which will hold their country, the United States and Canada in 2026.

“I appreciate the visit of Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, to talk about the development of the World Cup,” said the president in a publication in the social network X, in which she added photos with the manager of the top football agency and the trophy of the contest.

Sheinbaum stressed that the inauguration of the championship will take place at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on June 11, 2026.

“Remember that in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey will be held 13 games of the great sports party,” he added.

Infantino had already met last week with the US president, Donald Trump, who announced that the draw for the World Cup will be held on December 5 at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

The 2026 World Cup will be the first to be played in three countries and Trump has given much importance to the fact that it is done during its presidency.

The tournament arrives at a tense moment for Mexico, the United States and Canada, caused by the commercial and tariff policy of the Republican tycoon.

Mexico summons the “Chucky” for friendlies
