MIAMI.- Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama predicted the final of the Copa América USA 2024 and also said that his country, Colombia, would win its second continental title by beating Argentina this Sunday, July 14.
“Who is the favorite? Colombia is not, because they have 21 games unbeaten,” the Colombian national team’s representative said ironically.
“And I’m taking the risk too: we won the final against Argentina 2-1,” he said on June 21, three days before the Colombian team began its Copa América journey.
The coffee growers, led by Néstor Lorenzo and guided by James Rodríguez, proved “El Pibe” right. They finished first in Group D, with seven points, after achieving two victories and a draw.
In the quarter-finals, Colombia managed to take the next step with a 5-0 win over Panama and in the semi-finals, in a depressed duel, they defeated Uruguay 1-0.
The test of fire and the word of “Pibe was committed to the final”. He guessed the opponents and with enthusiasm, he also hopes to guess the result.
Colombia won the 2001 Copa América edition undefeated, held in their country.
