MADRID.- The number one in the world, the Italian Jannik Sinnergot into his first final of the Madrid Masters 1000 this Friday after beating the Frenchman Arthur Fils by 6-3 and 6-4.
Sinner will compete for the Madrid trophy with the winner of the semi-final between the Germans Alexander Zverevnumber three in the world, and the young Belgian Alexander Blockx.
The Italian, who had never made it past the quarterfinals in the Spanish capital, is still in the race to be the first to win five Masters 1000 consecutive after Paris, Indian Wells, Miami and Monte Carlo.
Sinner left few options for his rival, whom he had only faced once and had beaten in the semifinals of the tournament. Montpellier in 2023, although on that occasion he did it on a hard surface.
The Frenchman landed in Madrid after winning the tournament Barcelona and he grew in confidence on the clay of Madrid’s Caja Mágica until he ran into Sinner.
