Newcastle beat Tottenham

LONDON-. Newcastle he hit the Tottenham another rout at St. James' Park after Alexander Isak's brace confirmed Saturday's 4-0 victory in the Premier league against Eddie Howe's team.

Isak and Anthony Gordon scored in a span of 95 seconds in the first half as their team once again dominated the Spurs at home after last year's 6-1 rout. With this result, Tottenham damaged their chance of finishing in the first four places.

Isak, who also scored a brace in April of last year, concluded a spectacular performance with his second goal in the 51st minute, taking him to 17 goals in the league and 21 for the season. Gordon added his second assist with a corner kick that Fabian Schar headed in to make it four goals in the 87th.

Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou, who took charge of the team at the end of the previous season, admitted this week that he did not study the video of the last defeat and that he probably will not watch this week's

.

Tottenham's defense crumbled at several points and centre-back Micky van de Ven was somewhat at fault for the first two goals as he slipped before both to allow Isak and Gordon to overtake him on their way into the box.

Isak has scored in six consecutive home league games and became the first Newcastle player since Alan Shearer in 2003-04 to reach 20 goals in all competitions in the first division.

With this defeat, Tottenham fell behind Aston Villa, which is fifth, on goal difference.

Newcastle is sixth, 10 points behind Villa and Tottenham.
