‘Muñeco’ Salazar, lieutenant of ‘Chapo’, was extradited to the United States

Jesus Alfredo Salazar Ramirezalias “El Muñeco” and/or “El Justiciero”, lieutenant of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, in Chihuahua, Sonora, Durango and part of Sinaloa was handed over by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) for his extradition to the United States.

Salazar Ramírez, active leader of the criminal group “Los Salazar” is the son of Adán Salazar Zamorano alias “Don Adán” who was extradited in August 2023, he is claimed by the Federal Court for the Western District of Texas by the criminal association and health crimes.

Jesús Alfredo Salazar Ramírez was arrested in 2012 by personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense and is considered one of the most important lieutenants of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, since he was allegedly responsible for the control of drug planting, production and trafficking in Sonora and the mountainous part of Chihuahua, which was sent to the United States.

What do we know about Jesús Alfredo Salazar Ramírez?

He is originally from Chínipas, Chihuahua like his father Adán Salazar Zamorano, but they were in charge of the area of ​​Chihuahua, Sonora, Durango and part of Sinaloa.

Both were members of the criminal group “The Salazars”, which has operated since the nineties in those regions. Adán Salazar directed it until his arrest in 2011, while Jesús Alfredo Salazar was in charge until his capture in 2012, continuing with the Adán “El Indio” Salazar team, who was murdered in 2016.

Upon the death of his brother Adam, Jesús Alfredo would continue as active leader of that criminal groupdespite being in captivity.


Salazar Ramírez was wanted by the Government of the United States of America and had an arrest warrant issued against him since August 24, 2006, by the Federal Court of the Western District of Texas, for the charge of criminal association, for possess with intent to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine, in violation of the US code.

According to data from the FGR, Crispín Salazar Zamora, Adán’s brother, is currently the one in charge of the Sinaloa Cartel criminal cell.

The Salazars are one of the 10 cells of the Sinaloa Cartel, headed by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, until 2016, according to the FGR.

The Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office opened a line of investigation against Adán Salazar for the murder of the journalist Miroslava Breach, en 2017.

Breach Velducea, in his investigative journalistic works, maintained that Los Salazar imposed candidates for city councils in the Sierra de Chihuahua.

The Attorney General’s Office handed over a fugitive of Mexican nationality required by a Texas Court to the facilities of the Mexico City International Airport.

Jesús Alfredo Salazar was accused of criminal association and against health.

In the files of the Prosecutor’s Office it is noted that the Chihuahuan is identified as one of the most important lieutenants of the Sinaloa Cartel, a criminal organization dedicated to the transportation and distribution of cocaine and marijuana in various cities of the American Union.
