At 35 years of age, Jimmy Butler remains one of the main faces of the Miami Heatan organization in which he has established himself and achieved stardom. How much more time is left in the player’s career? It’s a question for which not even he himself has an answer yet.
However, like most big-name players, it is important for Butler to constantly measure his contribution to the team. And at least as of this moment, there seems to be no indication that the end is near.
“I don’t know how much longer I want to play,” said Butler, in statements recently reported by Forbes. “But I know I can still play at the highest level for a couple more years. So we’ll see, only time will tell. I’ll see what my babies want to do, we’ll sit down and talk about it,” he added.
Butler is in the middle of his fourteenth NBA contest and currently ranks as one of the oldest players on the circuit and the second oldest on the Heat’s roster.
The talented player has been dealing with a knee injury in the current contest, but made his return in Miami’s emphatic 134-93 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the week. The seven-time All-Star scored 17 points, recorded nine rebounds and five assists.
Second wind in Miami?
The victory brought the Heat’s record to .500 after the first 20 games of the schedule. And with the win over Phoenix on Saturday, Miami posted a positive record for the first time since going 3-2 in early November.
“It’s tough, but we can do it,” Butler said of how his team could return to the top of the East. “A lot of stars are putting the ball in the basket at an incredible rate. It’s crazy to think about and see. But it doesn’t scare anyone on this side. We know what any team in the league is capable of and what we are capable of as well. “he added.
