MIAMI- Former Ecuadorian President Lenín Moreno strongly criticized the presidents of Brazil, Mexico and Colombia for their stance on the serious political situation in Venezuela.
Moreno emphasized that the Venezuelan people should not become “the usual victim of a mockery of their Freedom and their Democracy,” referring to the recent positions of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Gustavo Petro regarding the electoral fraud committed by the Venezuelan regime.
Moreno questioned the ability of these leaders to recognize the reality facing the South American country, highlighting the mass exodus of Venezuelans fleeing the crisis. “Is there no ability to see the obvious? Haven’t their countries witnessed the exodus of millions of hopeless Venezuelan brothers?” said the former president.
Rejection of new elections
He also rejected any possibility of holding new elections under the Venezuelan regime, considering that this would only serve to perpetuate the oppression suffered by the people. “The dictator’s defeat at the polls and the continuation of his bloodthirsty regime do not deserve even the slightest chance. Holding new elections is re-victimizing all those wonderful people. Do not let them down. They have already had many sorrows,” he concluded.
Moreno’s statements add to the growing international voices demanding an effective and definitive solution to the Venezuelan crisis, which continues to be a cause of division and debate in the region.
