CLEVELAND-. LeBron James he let his son Bronny have the Cleveland stage to himself.
While the superstar of the Lakers I watched from the bench, Bronny James scored his first points in an NBA game — with a shot that resembled his father’s.
Despite this, the Lakers fell 134-110 to the Cavaliers.
In the second game featuring the father-son duo, LeBron left in the fourth quarter and sat back to enjoy watching his son absorb the love of a Cleveland crowd that applauded his every move for 11 seasons.
When the Cavs were already on their way to a landslide victory, Cleveland fans began chanting, “We want Bronny!”, hoping to see the rookie they had watched growing up. Young James entered the game with 5:16 left and was cheered every time he touched the ball.
He had two assists and then made his first pro basket with a 14-footer from the left corner with 2:03 left, sparking a huge cheer.
“I told him congratulations,” Lakers coach JJ Redick said afterward. “It’s a huge accomplishment to score your first points in the NBA, and the fact that he did it here in Cleveland was a bright spot.”
When Bronny was little, he would run through the hallways, ride the elevators and shoot shots or play games on the practice court inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse while his famous father played for the Cavs.
Evan Mobley scored 25 points, Donovan Mitchell added 24 and the Cavs improved to 5-0 with the win.
It’s the first time Cleveland has started 5-0 since the 2016-17 season. Back then it was led by LeBron, who this time scored 26 points.
