Kunstwerk unknown steal statue of Melania Trump in Slovenia

She stood in the landscape: the bronze statue of Melania Trump near her hometown in Slovenia. Now it has been stolen.

The first had been burned by unknown people – now Melania Trump’s second statue has also disappeared into Slovenia. The life-size bronze figure of the US President was stolen, the police said on Thursday. An investigation is underway.

The statue built in 2020 stood on a field near the city of Sevnica, where Donald Trump’s wife grew up. It was the replica of a former statue of the US presidential wife made of wood, which was set on fire by strangers.

Melania Trump statue is intended as a criticism

The bronze statue was manufactured by the US artist Brad Downey. In conversation with the AFP news agency, he described his work as “caricature”. It is intended as a criticism of the Restrictive immigration policy of the US President by alluding that his own wife is an immigrant.

Melania Trump moved from her homeland to the US metropolis of New York in the 1990s, where she worked as a model and met Trump.
