LOS ANGELES.- Clayton Kershaw He said he plans to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers for its 18th season next year.
The three-time National League Cy Young Award winner will not pitch in the current playoffs because of a bone spur in his left big toe that sidelined him for the final month of the regular season.
The 36-year-old left-hander made just seven starts this year, going 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA.
Last November, Kershaw underwent surgery on his left shoulder and subsequent recovery kept him out of action until July 25. By August 31, the 10-time All-Star was on the disabled list with a toe injury.
“My shoulder and elbow, my whole arm feels great,” he said on Fox’s pregame broadcast Monday.
“Obviously, I had bad luck with my foot this year, but I want to make use of this surgery. “I’m going to come back next year and I’m going to try it and see how it goes.”
In February, Kershaw signed a one-year, $10 million deal with a player option for 2025.
He has spent his entire career with the Dodgers, although he has missed a lot of time in recent years due to a series of injuries.
France and Germany triumph
France and Germany had substitute forwards to thank for victories over bitter rivals in the Nations League on Monday.
With Kylian Mbappé absent again, Randal Kolo Muani started up front for France and scored a goal in each half in a 2-1 victory over Belgium.
The Belgians were outplayed again by Kolo Muani, who similarly scored in a 2-0 second leg win in Lyon last month. It was also a shot from the Paris Saint-Germain striker that made the difference when France beat Belgium 1-0 in the round of 16 of the European Championship over the summer.
On the other hand, in his debut for Germany, Jamie Leweling had a goal disallowed after two minutes after a video review, but sealed the 1-0 victory over the Netherlands in Munich in the 64th minute.
