Democratic US presidential candidate Kamala Harris has agreed to take part in a televised debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump. “I’m ready. Let’s go,” the 59-year-old wrote on the online platform X. Voters deserve to see both candidates on the same stage. Harris, the current US vice president, has yet to be nominated as candidate by her party. However, she already enjoys great support among the Democrats.
The date is not fixed
On Sunday, incumbent Joe Biden announced that he would not run in the US presidential election on November 5. His disastrous performance in the first TV debate against Trump had significantly increased the pressure within the party to withdraw from the candidacy.
Trump and Biden had originally agreed to a televised debate on September 10. However, Trump “backtracked” from that date, Harris wrote. Another date has not yet been negotiated.
