Capital: Ms. Schmucker, Donald Trump has won the election and is moving into the White House again. What does this mean economically?
CLAUDIA SCHMUCKER: It is difficult to predict what Donald Trump will actually do as president from what he has announced. He is very erratic and often contradicts himself. But Trump has a few issues where he is relatively consistent, and one of them is trade policy. Already in his first term in office, he was ready to use America’s strength and the American market to advance US interests. He doesn’t do this through cooperation and negotiations, but through tariffs.
