The reality is that the era of Jimmy Butler in Miami may be counting down. At this point, fans, experts and even the players and coaches themselves seem to be aware of this; However, there is more than one way a player can leave an organization and that is where, perhaps, not everyone is so clear.
According to a report by “The Stein Line”, the belief within the offices of the heat is that Butler will not leave through free agency and that the only way he will do so is via trade.
If the star decides to leave the South Florida team during the summer, he would have to reject the player option he has in his current contract for $52.6 million.
The 35-year-old veteran has made it clear that he still has a lot of gas in the tank in this current NBA season, in which he averaged 18.5 points per game, 5.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.4 blocks.
Butler, like during most of his stay in Miami, has been instrumental in the victories the team has achieved in this tournament.
Problems on the scale
However, the big drawback seems to be that the rest of the club’s squad has not been able to maintain a sufficient level to compete for the title, especially within an Eastern Conference as competitive as it has not been in several years.
Although Butler’s agent has denied trade rumors, at this point it seems unlikely that the player will remain in Miami for much longer. In fact, his departure could come sooner rather than later, taking into account that the trade deadline is just over a month away.
