BELGRADE.- The Serbian Novak Djokovicliving legend of tennis, will face Roland Garros with a renewed team of collaborators, with his compatriot Viktor Troicki as the new head coach, confirmed this Wednesday the former number one of the ATP.
Troicki, former world number 12 and captain of the Serbian team Davis Cupwas part of the coaching staff that led Djokovic to individual Olympic gold in Paris 2024.
“Welcome my friend, teammate and now coach… Viktor Troicki,” wrote Djokovic, currently fourth in the ranking, on his Instagram profile.
The press had been speculating that Troicki was Djokovic’s new coach, since they were seen together in a training session on Tuesday in Paris, also in the company of the German tennis player. Alexander Zverev.
At the moment, Djokovic did not give more details about the restructuring of his coaching staff and it is expected that he will be able to provide more information about it at the press conference he has scheduled in Paris before Roland Garros starts this Sunday.
Djokovic (38 years old), winner of 24 Grand Slam tournaments in the past, and Troicki (40 years old) have been friends since childhood.
