George Clooney gives the US President interview with Filmstar insulted

After his TV interview, Donald Trump mocked George Clooney as a “second-class star” and “failed political commentator”.

US President Donald Trump (78) has once again practiced sharp criticism of actor George Clooney (63) and described him in a truth social post as “second-class film star” and “failed political commentator”. The occasion was Clooney’s appearance in the CBS program “60 Minutes”, in which he explained his critical attitude towards ex-President Joe Biden (82).

Clooney’s controversial bidding course

Clooney, a prominent member and supporter of the Democratic Party, had called in a guest post for the “New York Times” in the summer to rethink bidding from the 2024 presidential election campaign. In the TV interview, Clooney said that he did not regret this statement. He had experienced bidges personally at the fundraising event and was “surprised” as he presented himself. His impression caused him to pronounce the truth – even if many in his party were silent. He criticized the lack of the backbone of the Democrats.

Trump reacted bitingly to Clooney’s statements. In his nightly online tirade, he accused Clooney of having “dropped” like a dog after he had vehemently supported him. He described the interview as a “pure PR piece” and also doubted the integrity of the program “60 Minutes”, which according to Trump had already reported dishonestly in the past – especially in connection with an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris (60) in 2020.

Media criticism and old feud

In the interview, Clooney also addressed the importance of freedom of the press and drew parallels between his role as Edward R. Murrow (1908-1965) in the play “Good Night, and Good Luck” and today’s political reality in the USA. He accused governments – regardless of their political orientation – not to like the free press and to proceed with legal means or economic pressure against critical reporting.

The conflict between Trump and Clooney is not new, but was further fueled by the recent statements. In the past, Trump had already mocked Clooney as a “wrong film star” and advised him to stay out of politics.
