Montreal.- Two days after announcing his withdrawal at the end of the year, the Spanish Sergio Busquets He said Saturday that he is “very happy” and “centered” on saying goodbye to raising the title of the American League (Mls) with him Inter Miami.
“I had it meditated, even if it was announced the other day. In the end it is the law of life, football, sport in general and very happy for everything,” the midfielder told Apple TV after the 1-1 1-1 draw on the Inter on the Toronto FC court.
At 37, Busquets will hang the boots after almost two decades of an extraordinary race, in which it was the compass of the most glorious stages of the Barcelona and the Spanish team.
“When you have been so many years for so many years, so many trips, in the end not only physically but also mentally it is what you want,” he said.
“Both my family and I have believed that this was the best and that so far my story was going to come in football,” he said. “But now I am focused on what remains of the MLS, on trying to get as high as possible (in the regular phase) and then face the playoffs in the best way.”
Among many other achievements, Busquets was champion of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with La Roja and nine Spanish leagues and three Champions League with Barcelona.
In mid -2023 he joined Inter, following in the footsteps of his friend Lionel Messi, in a reunion that included two other ex -brazers, Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba.
“I am very happy to meet again with great colleagues, great friends, great people,” Busi said. “In the end that is what football leaves you and is the most beautiful (…) we are enjoying here, trying to continue our career with other goals and elsewhere.”

As part of its legacy in American football, the quartet aspires to lift in December the first league trophy in the history of Inter.
“It would be fine,” said Busquets. “I hope I can close my career with another title that I lack and for what we have been fighting all year.”
