Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump served french fries at a McDonald’s restaurant in the US state of Pennsylvania as part of his election campaign. On Sunday, the ex-president put an apron over his white shirt and had an employee show him how the potato sticks were shoveled into cardboard boxes. Trump then passed the french fries out the window of the drive-through restaurant.
“I will never forget this experience,” said Trump after the campaign appearance, with which he primarily wanted to appeal to working-class voters in the important swing state. The job requires specialist knowledge, he emphasized.
The unusual campaign appearance was also a swipe at Trump’s Democratic opponent Kamala Harris, who said she worked at the fast food chain while studying and spoke about this experience during the campaign. Trump, for his part, claims that Harris never worked at McDonald’s and is lying. When journalists gathered outside the fast food restaurant asked Trump that Harris was celebrating her 60th birthday on Sunday, Trump wished her “all the best.” “I think I’ll give her some flowers,” he said. “Maybe I’ll get her some fries too.”
