Donald Trump needed a moment to adjust to his new opponent in the race for the White House. Now the Republican is going into attack mode against Kamala Harris.
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump sharply attacked Vice President Kamala Harris at a campaign rally. He called Harris a “left-wing madwoman who will destroy our country” on Wednesday (local time) in the state of North Carolina. It was Trump’s first campaign appearance since Harris became the likely Democratic presidential candidate.
Donald Trump: Kamala Harris responsible for “every single Biden disaster”
Trump also said that Harris was in favor of “executing” babies. “She wants abortions in the eighth and ninth months of pregnancy. That’s fine with her, up until birth and even after birth, the execution of a baby,” said the 78-year-old. Harris had accused Trump of wanting to ban abortions.
Trump called Harris the “ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden disaster.” The Republican also accused Harris of failing in border policy. “As border commissioner, Kamala opened our borders, allowing 20 million illegal immigrants from around the world to pour into our country.” In fact, Biden had given Harris the task of working with countries in Central America to stem the migration wave, but she was neither entrusted with responsibility for border security nor appointed “border commissioner.”

The rally in the state of North Carolina, which is considered to be a decisive factor in the election, took place just days after Biden withdrew from the presidential race. Harris, the first black woman and Asian-American vice president, is considered his designated successor.
Trump has already secured the official approval of his party: he was nominated as the Republican presidential candidate last week.
Meanwhile, US broadcaster Fox News suggested a presidential debate between Trump and Harris for September 17.
