LONDON.- The Peruvian Genaro Rivas, unique designer Hispanic speech present in the London Fashion Weekexpect your collection which he presented on Saturday in the British capital serves to manage to internationalize his brand.
Rivas, originally from Chiclayo, in northern Peru, who arrived in the British capital in 2022, to study a master’s degree at the College of Fashion in London, where he obtained his graduation, is the first designer in his country that presents his collections in the more than 40 years of history of the Fashion Week of the English City.
“I dream of the internationalization of my brand, which is sold in London and then in Europe and the entire world, carrying quality and Latin American materials,” said the designer to the AFP.
His transfer to London has allowed him to become a regular of the Fashion Week of the British capital, being present last year three times.
“A year gives you some experience. With luck, this new parade can be the beginning of the long -awaited internationalization of my brand. Opening the way in a new market is difficult, more if sometimes your own country is not a country in which fashion is an industry,” he said.
30 sets in your parade
With your collection Alchemy of Ashes (ash alchemy), who presented on Saturday at a parade at the Swiss Church in London, a 150 -year -old building, Rivas showed about 30 sets, rather than in its previous presentations in London.
“The name of Ash alchemy It is because the collection is inspired by some elements of the hidden and witchcraft. And also because the final collection is completely different from the one I had planned to do, “explained the Peruvian creator.
Genaro Rivas is known for mixing its South American roots with modern design influences, learned in their fashion years in London.
His collections usually present a fusion of traditional materials and contemporary designs, something that repeated in the presentation of his autumn-winter collection on Saturday in the Swiss church of the British capital.
“This collection brings elements of Peru such as alpaca and fabrics and mixes with something new, with a sustainable and global vision. My country is rich in talent, culture and inspiration, like all Latin America, and I think we have much to show in places where fashion is an industry,” he said.
In addition to London, Rivas has already managed to parade at the San Francisco Fashion Community Week, in Mendoza’s fashion week, in addition to Switzerland.
“In this February collection I feel much more comfortable, I feel that I feel the foundations to continue creating new, interesting things and develop concepts with identity. The migration process is difficult, more if you are Latin. We come from a different society,” he explained.
Collection with dark colors
Rivas said he was always attracted to creativity, starting with painting and other crafts, which ended up leading him to the world of fashion and design.
“In this new collection, in terms of materials, there are hand embroidery, alpaca, wool, silks, resin, tulls,” said Genaro Rivas, while in colors, he describes his new designs as very dark, predominantly black, blue and red touches, with some silver tones.
This new parade at London Fashion Week is another opportunity for Rivas in its desire to internationalize its creations.
“I hope and trust that with work, tenacity and strength it can be achieved, not being afraid of change, not being afraid of inspiration, you come from where you come, as in this case,” summarized the Peruvian designer.
