Convictions of Alves and Robinho put an end to “disastrous chapter”, they say in Brazil

SAO PAULO.- The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, declared that the sentences for violation of Daniel Alves and Robinho They put an end to “one of the most disastrous chapters” in the country's sporting history.

In a statement released on Friday, Rodrigues said that the CBF leadership and its coaching staff regret “the victims of the brutal crimes committed by the two former players.”

“The yellow t-shirt is much more than a t-shirt. Just like soccer for Brazil is more than a sport. Those who use it must defend the feelings and values of the entire country they represent,” said Rodrigues.

“It is shameful that a player feels comfortable committing this type of perversity, believing that what he achieved through sport will somehow protect him from any punishment,†he added.

Robinho was jailed on Thursday after a court authorized him to serve in Brazil the nine-year prison sentence he received in Italy. This week, Alves will have the opportunity to bail out of prison while he awaits the appeal of his rape conviction in Spain.

Since early Friday morning, Robinho was held in the Tremembé prison, in a rural area of the state of Sao Paulo. He is expected to serve at least 40% of his nine-year sentence for raping a woman in Italy.

Fabric to be cut with Dani Alves:

Alves remains imprisoned in the Brians II prison, 45 minutes from Barcelona, where he has been for the last 14 months. He was found guilty of raping a woman in a nightclub in December 2022 and sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

The Barcelona Prosecutor's Office asked a court on Friday to reconsider its decision to grant Alves the opportunity to leave prison.

His repeated requests to be released on bail before the trial had been denied because the court considered him to be a flight risk.
