Boric accuses Maduro of “violating Chilean sovereignty” with a crime of ex -military Venezuelan

Miami- The president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, described this Monday as “very serious” the possible participation of the regime of Nicolás Maduro in the death of the former Venezuelan ex -military and opponent Ronald Ojeda, who was found lifeless in Chilean territory in February 2024.

The Chilean Prosecutor’s Office maintains an investigation to determine if the official Diosdado Cabello, was behind the crime. In response, the Venezuelan regime said that it would resort to the International Criminal Court (TPI) in the event that these accusations support.

“Sovereign Violation”

From Uruguay, where he makes an official visit, Boric insisted on the seriousness of the case and warned that his administration will also take the issue to the TPI.

“If it is confirmed that there was an action of a foreign government to kill a dissident in our country, it would not only be a violation of sovereignty, but also to human rights,” he said.

In Montevideo, Boric met with outgoing president Luis Lacalle Pou and former president José Mujica. During his visit, he lashed out at the “dictatorship” of Maduro, whom he accused of “stealing the elections” of July 2024, elections in which the Venezuelan opposition claimed his triumph.

In addition, the Chilean president reacted to the closure of Chile’s consulates in Caracas and Puerto Ordaz, a measure adopted by the Venezuelan regime that described as a “provocation”, said the T13 news portal.

“Kidnapping”

Ronald Ojeda was arrested in Venezuela in April 2017, along with other military, for his alleged participation in a conspiracy against the regime. However, he managed to escape at the end of that same year and was exiled in Chile, where in 2023 he received political asylum. In 2024, Caracas pointed him out of “Traitor to La Patria” and linked him to the so -called ‘Black Bracelet Operation, which allegedly sought a magnicide against Maduro.

In February 2024, Ojeda was kidnapped in Chile by hooded individuals who passed police officers. His body was found almost ten days later, which unleashed the current diplomatic crisis between Santiago and Caracas.
