The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has given the green light for the match Villarreal CF – FC Barcelonacorresponding to Day 17 of LaLiga 2025/26, it is disputed in USA. The meeting, scheduled for December 20, 2025, would have as headquarters the Hard Rock Stadium of Miami, in the state of Florida.
At its meeting of August 11, 2025, the RFEF Board of Directors analyzed the joint request of both clubs and approved to raise the proposal to UEFA, a step prior to the final authorization by FIFA. The governing body of Spanish football confirmed that all the documentation was reviewed and complies with the FIFA International Parties Regulation, as well as with the internal norms of the Federation.

The initiative responds to one of the oldest aspirations of Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, who for years has seeks to expand the brand of the Spanish championship in US territory. Pending final approval
Although the RFEF has given its approval, the party still needs UEFA and FIFA approval for official confirmation. If approved, it would be a historical fact: the first official LaLiga party played outside Spanish territory with the complete support of all the institutions involved.
