According to Trump command: National Guard in Washington in action

At the instructions of US President Donald Trump, soldiers from the National Guard in Washington took a position. This was reported by journalists from the AFP news agency and US media on Tuesday. According to the Pentagon, Trump mobilized around 800 national guards. Trump justifies the assignment with an alleged security “emergency” in Washington. Mayor Muriel Bowser, on the other hand, emphasized that crime was at a 30-year low.

In addition, Trump subordinated the police in Washington to the US Ministry of Justice and mobilized the FBI federal police officers in the capital. The spokeswoman for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, said that around 850 emergency services had provided security on Tuesday night and arrested 23 people. The allegations therefore range from serious crimes such as killing or unauthorized gun ownership to minor offenses such as illegal driving or driving under alcohol influence.

“It’s just the beginning,” said Leavitt. In the coming month, the Trump government will pursue “every violent criminal” in Washington. In addition, the homeless person threatens if they camped on the street.

Trump had said on Monday that he wanted to preserve the US capital from “crime, bloodshed, chaos, misery and worse”. Defense Minister Pete Hegseth told Fox News that the National Guard’s commitment could take weeks or months depending on the Trump’s will. With the help of an emergency regulation, the President can also subordinate the local police to the government for 30 days.

The mayor of the US capital, Muriel Bowser, practiced sharp criticism. Trump’s approach is a “step towards fascism”, the politician of the democratic party told the podcast “Breakfast Club”. The opposition Democrats in the US House of Representatives accuse the President an “illegal takeover”.
