LOS ANGELES.- Antonio Banderas assured that the heart attack What he suffered in 2017 was the best thing that happened to him in his life, because from then on he has been able to value his existence more.
“My heart attack was the best thing that happened to me in my life… It was as if someone had put glasses on me to be able to see the reality that I didn’t see before,” said the actor. The Fox to the magazine People.
According to Banderas, being “so close” to mortality “is an incredibly clear reminder of how stupid you are to waste time on things that don’t deserve to be in your life,” he added.
Banderas suffered a heart attack at the age of 56 and that motivated him to quit smoking and return to Malaga, where it originates from.
There, the actor has dedicated much of his time to producing plays and musicals at the Soho CaixaBank Theater, of which he is the promoter and owner, in addition to investing in restaurants in the city.
Return to Spain
Although he developed a large part of his career in the United States, the interpreter also assured that he feels fulfilled living in Spain.
“They were beautiful and exciting years (in Los Angeles), but I always had that feeling of provisionality, that it wasn’t going to last a lifetime. “I knew I shouldn’t be in Malibu, but in Malaga,” he pointed out to the same publication.

His experience in restaurants coincides with his most recent participation in the film Tony, about the early years of the late chef Anthony Bourdain.
In Matt Johnson’s film (BlackBerry), Banderas plays a Brazilian chef who was Bourdain’s first mentor, played by Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers), and who introduced him to the world of cooking in Massachusetts.
Bourdain committed suicide in 2018 in Strasbourg, France, at age 61. Tony will be released in theaters on August 7.
